Light Carousel

A childhood wallpaper, the shadows on the "road carpet" and dad's silhouette on the wall. Anton is about to leave his small home town for university in a big city. A forgotten memory in his old bedroom confronts him with everything he has missed while chasing his dream. A short coming-of-age film on the last moments of our childhood and trying to make up for lost times, before it's too late.

  • Reason for making the movie:

    Author's note:
"Light Carousel" is my attempt to bring a fresh take on the coming-of-age genre by bridging the gap between conventional storytelling and experimental visuals. I wrote this film at 19 and wanted to capture the feeling of being at the end of teenage hood. This coming-of-age short film is told entirely by showing shadows. Together with a young team of students and freelancers, we had one specific goal: let's do something nobody has ever seen before. The result is a raw cinematic coming-of-age expression.

Alex Lazarov makes short films, music videos and commercials specialised in the multicultural world of the internet generation. Born in 2000, he grew in the golden age of the internet. While still in school he developed a love for both arthouse cinema and online content with a unique vision. He's a self taught filmmaker that originated from the world of film journalism. He educated himself by skipping class to visit press screenings and making film reviews on YouTube. At 14 years old he started his making short films. His work has been screened at film festivals and on phone screens around the world. Currently, he's working as a freelance filmmaker & videographer in Vienna, Austria.

  • Other information:
