FilmStories by Young Creators at Nursing Homes
In a groundbreaking moment for A-FilmTeensFest, we introduced the creativity of young filmmakers to the nursing homes in region of the Hradec Králové. The first two screenings took place just before Christmas 2024—on December 19th at Rýchorský Domov in Žacléř and December 20th at Domov Arreta in Hradec Králové.
The program, featuring eight short films by young creators from the Czech Republic and abroad, was carefully curated to offer a diverse range of topics and be accessible to audiences of all ages. The most popular films were Procházka stoletou rajskou zahradou paličkované a šité krajky and Valčík u skalního bazénu.
The feedback was heartwarming. One of the caregivers at Rýchorský Domov said:
"Young filmmakers show us they have so much to offer. Keep going, and may they continue on this creative path in life. Our clients loved the film about lace the most, but they praised all the films for being beautifully made."
From my perspective, as the screening coordinator, both events were exceptionally great. The screenings brought not only good cheer to the seniors but also a sense of wonder about what young people can create. Our festival debut in senior homes was a success, and I’m already looking forward to continuing in January with eight more screenings across the region of Hradec Králové.
Thanks to everyone supporting A-FilmTeensFest, enabling us to bring films to new places. Special thanks to the nursing homes, their clients, and the staff for their warm reception.
