Success of Czech Film at Novemberfestivalen 2024
The film Madonna, directed by Marina Malysh, has won the prestigious “Best International Short Film” award at Novemberfestivalen, a renowned festival for young talents held in Trollhättan, Sweden. This event is not just a celebration of cinema but a testament to how creative work can connect people across the globe.
Marina shared her impressions of the festival:
"I had an incredible experience at Novemberfestivalen. It's clear that the organizers put immense effort and love into their work. The festival felt like a grand celebration of film and art. The program was filled with powerful and engaging films from Swedish and international filmmakers. There were also useful workshops in English for international guests, and the excellent organization made it all even more special."
The gala evening left a lasting impact on Marina:
"The program was beautifully prepared—live music, an elegantly arranged venue, and banquet-style dining tables. But what touched me the most was winning the main international category. As the jury began to praise the production team, I started to realize they were talking about Madonna. When they finally announced the film, it was an overwhelming and unexpected joy!"
Marina also appreciated the opportunity to see the work of other talented filmmakers and explore the picturesque Swedish town of Trollhättan. Learn more about the festival here.
Special thanks go to the Film Academy of Miroslav Ondříček (FAMO) in Písek for recommending this exceptional film. Through this collaboration, Czech films not only travel abroad but also earn recognition on the global stage, inspiring young creators to continue their artistic journeys.
Congratulations to Marina and her team on this remarkable achievement, and best wishes for future successes!
