3RD YEAR

TWO CZECH MOVIES AWARDED AT YCN AWARDS!

Two exceptional Czech films nominated by A-FilmTeensFest have become heroes of the international film world. The Youth Cinema Network (YCN), a global network of international film festivals and organisations for children and youth, has created a space to recognise these talented young filmmakers. A-FilmTeensFest, which is a member of this organization, presented two beautiful stories that won the top prizes for 2023!

The first of these films is "Victoria", the work of the animation group ANIDETI. This film won first place in the category of emerging filmmakers under 14. "Viktoria" is proof that creativity and talent do not have to be limited by age.

The second winning film is a documentary called "Our Dreams", which was made during workshops at the Duchcov Children's Home. This moving documentary captures the dreams and aspirations of teenagers aged 12-17. It is a project that speaks about the importance of culture and art in the lives of young people. The film was created thanks to the A-FilmTeensFest initiative, which supports children and young people and provides them with the opportunity for cultural education and fulfilling their free time. This award is a well-deserved recognition not only for the young filmmakers, but also for all those who worked to make this project a success.

These successes were preceded by strong competition, with Czech films having to compete against films made by children and young people up to the age of 26 from all over the world. Managing to be among the shortlisted nominees is always a great achievement, as evidenced by the nomination of "Kolektiv" by Stella Konečná in the category of filmmakers aged 15-19. This award brings Czech filmmakers and artists fame and recognition in the international film field.

The awards for these young talents will be presented at the international festival "Up and Coming" in Hannover at the end of November. This is a great opportunity not only for the filmmakers themselves, but also for the Czech Republic as a whole to present itself on the global film scene.

Congratulations to the Czech emerging talents and their tutors who supported them and helped them to express their creativity and ideas through film. These achievements are a model for all young filmmakers and show that age is not a barrier to achieving exceptional results in the world of cinema. The Czech film industry can be proud of these young filmmakers, who will likely continue to develop and enrich Czech cinema with their talent and passion for film.
