3RD YEAR

Basic info

Dear friends,

Welcome to A-FilmTeensFest, an international competitive festival showcase of audiovisual works produced by the youngest generation between the ages of 6 and 20 in 37 countries around the world on five continents.

After a very good experience in 2021, the third edition will be held online here on this website and also in the following venues: Kino Mnichovo Hradiště, Aula Akademie Škoda Auto, Kino Kartonka 1904 in Vrchlabí, Kino 70 Jilemnice, Kino in Rychnov nad Kněžnou and Kino 70 in Dobruška. The screenings are intended for schools and various after-school organizations for children and youth (see "For schools"), as well as for individuals of any age. The cinemas will also hold screenings for the public (see "For the public"). Of course, we have a programme for all children and teenagers, mainly aged 8-20, but also for pre-schoolers and first graders. All films can of course also be seen by the "older ones" aged 20+, parents and certainly also seniors (we believe that some of our films may be sincerely enjoyed by them). We are a festival for all generations!

All online sections and programs are free of charge, the only condition to access them is to register on this website.

The opening ceremony will take place on 8 February 2023 at 10 am in the nice modern Cinema 70 in Jilemnice in cooperation with the Gymnasium, Secondary School and Secondary School Jilemnice. A video or stream of the opening will be posted on the web. The final award ceremony will take place with the participation of Czech and foreign authors on Saturday 10 June 2023 at 2 pm either at the castle in Mnichovo Hradiště or at the monastery "Na Karmel" in Mladá Boleslav and will be live streamed. The general partner of the AFTF is the Škoda Auto Foundation. The project is significantly supported by the Central Bohemian Region and is held under the auspices of the Governor of the Central Bohemian Region Mgr. Petra Pecková, DiS.

In addition to the above-mentioned cinemas, screenings of films mainly for schools will also take place in other cinemas, mainly in the Central Bohemia and Hradec Králové regions (see "For schools"). As part of the echoes, we will also organise screenings in several children's homes and homes for the elderly.

You will have the opportunity to see a total of 167 films from 37 countries on five continents. They are presented on the website in the following 8 basic sections: Joy, Me and My Loved Ones, Inner Worlds, Roots, Earth - A Place to Live, The System and the Cyberworld, Signs of the Times and YCN Award Winners 2022. These are further divided into film sections according to themes and age suitability of the audience: 5+, 6+, 7+, 8+, 10+, 12+, 14+, 16+. The vast majority of the sections are suitable for school screenings, one section is not suitable for school screenings and is marked as non-educational. We will also screen films from one or two orphanages produced within the framework of the "Windows on the World" film workshop project for children from orphanages (the final number of films depends on the strict GDPR rules concerning underage children from orphanages).

Parallel to the AFTF, the regional film competition "My Home?! or My relationship to the place where I live and grow up" for children and young people from Vrchlabí, Rychnov and Mladá Boleslav regions, which is announced by A-FilmTeensFest and the Škoda Auto Foundation and has a deadline of 10 May 2023. The winners will be honoured at an awards ceremony on 10 June. For more details, please see the "Regions Competition" section.

We are members of the YCN - Youth Cinema Network (an organisation that brings together international youth film festivals and other audiovisual education organisations from all over the world). We cooperate with a number of international festivals of the same or similar type as AFTF, which recommend us the best films from their own and other countries. This is also why the standard of the films screened is high and, as our audiences have expressed in the past two editions, above average. The festival that we cooperate with are Camera Zizanio (Greece), Next FF (Denmark), Film Factory (Slovenia), Four River (Croatia), Fresh (Ireland),IYFF Plasencia Encorto (Spain), Corti a Ponte (Italy), BFI and Wicked Wales (UK), Reel Youth (Canada), NFFTY (Seattle, USA), Novemberfestivalen (Sweden), NUFF (Norway), Up and Coming (Hannover, Germany), Fish (Rostock, Germany), Madrese IFF (Teheran, Iran), BIKY (Busan, South Korea) and others. A book on 10 years of YCN has recently been published and you can find out more about it between streams of the films.

For more information about the films, the jury, screenings for schools and the public, and other accompanying programs, as well as for the media, etc., see the other links on this website.

We hope that together we will enjoy the 3rd A-FilmTeensFest, a celebration of the creativity and talents of today's youngest generation from around the world. And it is also very important for the meaningful continuation of this project. We look forward to seeing you at our platforms or face to face.

On behalf of the entire AFTF 2023 team,

Zuzka Dražilová
Director and founder of the festival
